東京大学にて工学学士及び工学修士を取得後、環境省に入省し、国内外の地球温暖化対策や廃棄物・リサイクル政策等に従事。同省課長補佐、公益財団法人地球環境センター事業部長、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校Ph.D.取得を経て、現在は米国ローレンス・バークレー国立研究所にて電力システムの長期計画や脱炭素政策について研究を行なっている。

Dr. Kenji Shiraishi is an energy and environmental policy researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, with a focus on the decarbonization of electricity sector and the analysis of climate and energy policies. His current research centers on improving and applying energy systems models to assess clean energy technologies and policy options, with the goal of informing public policy decisions. He holds Ph.D. in public policy from University of California, Berkeley and MS and BS in chemical engineering from University of Tokyo. He also serves as a board member of Climate Integrate, a climate policy thinktank based in Tokyo, Japan.
Kenji has more than 10 years of professional experiences in the area of Japan’s and international environmental policies as a Deputy Direc¬tor for Market-based Climate Policy of the Japanese Ministry of the Environment, a Managing Direc¬tor of the Global Environment Centre Foundation, etc.
