Climate Integrate is honored that on November 27 (EST), Kimiko Hirata, our executive director, was announced as one of New York-based Business Insider’s 2023 “Climate Action 30” (a list of thirty of the top global leaders working toward climate solutions) in recognition of her groundbreaking work to tackle climate change. She is the first Japanese honoree on the list. Other honorees this year include Abdulla Al Mandous, President of the World Meteorological Organization, Mia Mottley, Prime minister of Barbados, and the youth plaintiffs in Held v. Montana, a climate lawsuit.

Based in New York, Business Insider provides business and lifestyle news online, and publishes Business Insider Japan in Japanese. Announced for the first time in 2022, the “Climate Action 30” list last year included a scientist, chief sustainability officer, indigenous leader, climate-justice organizer, and not-for-profit CEO.

Kimiko Hirata comment

「Extreme weather is intensifying worldwide. In the form of climate change, humanity is facing its most serious crisis ever. Whatever our country, field, or place in society, we all need to take bold actions. Being selected as one of this year’s Climate Action 30 really means something to me, that the leadership of these thirty people could motivate many others to act as well. I hope that more and more people will take steps to fight climate change.」
