Prepared by Climate Integrate based on “Long-term Trends in Meteorological Observation Data”, using data provided by the Japan Meteorological Agency and analyzed by the National Institute for Environmental Studies.
Notes:
Average temperatures and extremely hot days are based on representative locations in each prefecture. Extremely hot days are defined as days with maximum temperatures of 35°C or higher (excluding Hokkaido and Okinawa). Heavy rainfall is measured as annual occurrences of hourly precipitation of 50 mm or more per station (data available from 1979 onward). National averages are simple averages of prefectural data.
